I became involved with the Outreach Clinic at the Down Syndrome Association in October 2008 just after I arrived here in South Africa with my husband and two children. I am a British Speech and Language Therapist, qualified in the UK, with a degree in speech and language therapy and a Masters in Human Communication. I am a member of the Royal Collegege of Speech and Language Therapists (UK). I successfully passed my exams in February 2009 and now am a registered Speech Therapist, recognised by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), which enables me to practise here in South Africa. I am also a member of the South African Speech, Language and Hearing Association (SASLHA).

I currently work part-time at the University of Pretoria supervising undergraduate students in their practical work and I also work voluntarily at the Down Syndrome Association.

I have many years experience working in the National Health Service (N HS) in England, with both pre-school and school aged children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties. I have also worked in private practise abroad.

If your child is not receiving speech and language therapy and you would like some free advice or would like to come and visit the Outreach Clinic with your child please contact Ancella Ramjas on
