MASAKHANE OUTREACH – GARANKUWA
- Masakhane Clinic started in March 2003
- Bi-weekly the group gets together at a church on the Bethesda school grounds
PROGRAMME:
Early Intervention Programme: 0-12 years
- Speech treatment programme is planned according to the individual’s needs by Medunsa students.
- Home programme provided to parents.
- Support group discuss a variety of topics and parents can share the highs and lows and concerns.
Monthly visits to surrounding clinics by the co-ordinators

SUPPORT GROUPS:

- Once a month these groups get together
- Home programme is discussed with parents.
- Parents can discuss the month’s highs and lows.
- Different topics are discussed and parent guidance are given
SUPPORT GROUP CONVENERS:
- Ga-Rankuwa (George Mukhari Hospital): Boitumelo Komane – Meetings every second Wednesday of the month
- Atteridgeville (Kalofong Hospital): Elsie Mokwena – Meetings first Tuesday of the month.
- Mamelodi (Stanza Bopapa Clinic): Francinah Masala – Meetings last Wednesday of the month.
LYTTELTON OUTREACH
Weekly this service is provided at the Down syndrome offices in Hofmeyerstr 54, Lyttelton
PROGRAMME:
Early Intervention Programme: 0-7 years
- Started in 2006
- Speech-, Occupational- and Music therapy treatment programmes are planned according to the individual’s needs.
- Home programme provided to parents.
